In this role, you will be the backbone of our internal engineering efficiency, taking full ownership of technical issue investigation, escalation management, and developer enablement. Unlike traditional roles tied strictly to feature sprint cycles, you will operate independently alongside our core development teams. While your absolute top priority is managing technical escalations and offloading operational friction from feature developers, this role is highly dynamic. Beyond ensuring system stability, you will also have the opportunity to contribute directly to core product features and work extensively with modern AI technologies, leveraging them to automate internal workflows and enhance our platform. If you enjoy root-cause analysis, debugging complex system behaviors, working heavily with AI tools, and writing hotfixes that empower both the R&D and Customer Success teams, this position is for you. Key Responsibilities • Issue Diagnosis & Root Cause Analysis: Serve as the primary point of contact for internal R&D technical escalations, investigating bugs, system edge cases, and platform anomalies. • Protect Sprint Velocity: Shield product squads from day-to-day operational distractions by analyzing, prioritizing, and resolving technical blockers. • Code, Hotfixes & AI Integration: Write scripts, bug fixes, micro-features, and patches directly within our codebase. Leverage AI tools to optimize processes and develop AI-driven internal workflows. • Cross-Functional Collaboration (CS Focus): Serve as the primary R&D focal point for Customer Success, partnering closely with them alongside DevOps, Product, and feature squads to translate recurring issue trends into long-term architectural improvements. • Developer Enablement: Maintain and improve internal tooling, staging environments, diagnostic workflows, and developer documentation. Requirements Requirements • Min. 4 years of experience in Software Engineering, Developer Support Engineering, or high-tier Technical Operations. • 2+ years of experience with AI tools & "Vibe Coding": Proven experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT/Claude) to accelerate coding, alongside hands-on experience integrating AI capabilities or LLMs into workflows. • Strong hands-on coding and debugging skills in modern web development stacks (e.g., JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, Python, or similar). • Solid understanding of REST APIs, backend microservices, modern databases (SQL/NoSQL), and cloud infrastructure concepts. • Experience with log management, monitoring, and debugging tools (e.g., Datadog, Sentry, Kibana, Postman). • Strong analytical and troubleshooting mindset—ability to read code, trace errors across system boundaries, and isolate root causes independently. • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical issues clearly to internal developers, product stakeholders, and directly with customers during high-tier technical escalations. Nice to Have • B.Sc. in Computer Science or a related field. • Prior experience working in a fast-paced SaaS or PropTech environment (e.g., Madlan ecosystem). • Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Docker, or Kubernetes.

Description Who are we? Checkmarx is the AI-powered application security leader helping the world’s most security- conscious enterprises secure the software that powers modern life. For more than two decades, our unified platform and services have helped organizations protect human- and AI- generated code from the first line through runtime, reducing risk across applications, cloud, and the software supply chain without slowing innovation. We’re trusted by 1,600+ customers in 70+ countries, including some of the largest enterprises and governments in the world. Guided by research-led innovation and a developer-first mindset, we help every developer, security team, and enterprise build software that is risk-free by design. What are we looking for? Chiron is a Checkmarx Core Platform R&D team that owns several core domains across our platform — including project and application management and risk management — that help customers understand and act on their security posture. We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join the team as a core contributor, owning significant parts of the backend behind these capabilities. The role is backend-first and Go-centric, but you'll also touch the React front end when a feature calls for it — so comfort moving across the stack matters. Quality is a shared responsibility here: our QA partner owns most test automation, but team members regularly pitch in to keep automation coverage moving and avoid bottlenecks. How will you make an impact? • Design and develop functional and technical capabilities within Chiron's large-scale, distributed backend systems, making ongoing architecture and design decisions • Take full ownership of features and product areas end-to-end: architecture, coding, testing, CI/CD, and production observability • Build and operate distributed microservices — gRPC/REST APIs, message queues, PostgreSQL-backed services — deployed on Kubernetes • Build and maintain React components/pages (e.g., risk tables, single-risk views) that consume your backend services when a feature requires front-end changes • Partner with our QA team on test automation — pitching in on backend automation in Go and front-end automation in Cypress when needed — to help keep coverage moving and reduce bottlenecks • Use AI-assisted coding tools as part of your day-to-day development workflow, from writing and reviewing code to test generation and debugging • Work smoothly with local and remote, multi-geo R&D and non-R&D teams, maintaining high visibility and effective communication • Provide in-depth technical knowledge, guidance, and mentorship to other team members as needed • Participate actively in design discussions and code reviews, holding the team to high execution and quality standards Requirements What is needed to succeed? • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience • Strong, hands-on background in Go in production systems • Working proficiency in React — able to build and maintain UI components/pages, even though the role is primarily backend • Strong quality awareness — you think about testability and edge cases as you design, and you're comfortable jumping into test automation alongside QA when needed • Comfortable contributing to test automation, ideally backend automation in Go and/or front-end automation in Cypress (or a similar framework, with willingness to pick up Cypress) • Practical experience using AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor) as part of your regular development workflow, and comfortable adopting them as standard practice on this team • Excellent understanding of modern distributed software architecture: microservices, gRPC/REST APIs, message queues, relational databases (PostgreSQL) • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes • Experience developing with modern Agile methodologies (Scrum, CI/CD, TDD) • Quick to learn new technologies and apply them to complex problems • Highly organized, with strong quality and delivery discipline; self-managed and flexible to change • Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written) • Strong team player Nice to have • Experience with Cypress specifically for end-to-end front-end testing • Application/cyber security background • Experience with GitOps and Infrastructure-as-Code tooling (Terraform, Helm, ArgoCD) • Experience with OpenTelemetry or production observability tooling What we have to offer Checkmarx offers a great work environment, professional development, challenging careers, competitive compensation, great work-life balance, as well as great benefits and perks throughout the year. Checkmarx is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Employment decisions are made without regard to race, color, religion, national or ethnic origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, or other characteristics protected by law.
