He participated actively in ikebana exhibitions held in the city and was a permanent member of the annual project of creating New Year Ikebana Arrangement in the Shinto shrine of Omi-Jingu (Shiga Prefecture, Japan). In 2009 he has achieved the Second Sanyo degree of the Sogetsu School and was honored to open the exhibition, dedicated to 40th anniversary of Ikebana International Japan. In 2011 he was promoted to the next level by achieving the Second Jonin Sanyo teacher's diploma. Since 2008 Iliya lives and teaches ikebana in Jerusalem and other regions. He lectured on ikebana in Hebrew University of Jerusalem, made a presentation in Raanana Country Club, conducted workshops - for children as well as for adults - in Haifa Tikotin Museum for Japanese Art , Zer4U school for floral Design in Ramat Gan and municipal preschool in Jerusalem.
