Derech HaTkuma – Heritage Tours, Observation Points & Living Memory in the Gaza Envelope Derech HaTkuma is a unique heritage and educational initiative operating throughout the Gaza Envelope region in southern Israel. Established in the aftermath of the events of October 7th, the project was created to provide visitors with a meaningful way to experience, understand, and connect with the places, people, and stories that became part of Israel’s modern history. Derech HaTkuma also offers guided tours in English, making the experience accessible to international visitors, delegations, Jewish communities, organizations, educational groups, and guests from around the world. English-speaking guides provide historical context, personal stories, and in-depth explanations, allowing participants to connect meaningfully with the region, its people, and the events that shaped it. More than a guided tour experience, Derech HaTkuma serves as a living platform for memory, education, resilience, and national connection. Through guided field experiences, heritage observation points, and immersive storytelling, the initiative invites visitors to rediscover the region not only through the events that occurred there, but also through the spirit of renewal and the communities rebuilding their future. The tours were designed by people who know the area firsthand and include several routes of different depths and durations. “Connection Points Route” is a focused journey through key locations including Be’eri Forest, Nahal Oz, and the Nova site. “Strength Against Fire Route” follows major battle locations and tells the personal stories of residents and defenders. “Frontline Route” is the most comprehensive experience, stretching along the Gaza border and including heritage sites, observation areas, and locations such as Nir Oz and Kerem Shalom.
