Astronomy Israel - Star Tours from Mitzpe Ramon, The Negev!
About
STAR TOURS OF THE NIGHT SKY Thanks for your interest in Astronomy Israel's Star Tours from Mitzpe Ramon, the Negev, the darkest skies in Israel. Our star tours last about two hours, usually starting at 9:30pm. During holidays we sometimes have star tours that start at 6:00pm or 6:30pm. Check the booking schedule. All tours are in English. Our assistant speaks Hebrew and during time at the telescope can answer questions and conduct a mini-tour in Hebrew. COST Adults 150ils, children 6-12 years old 75ils, no charge under 6 years old. Discounts for larger families and groups. Payment in cash or check at the tour, no plastic. WHAT WE OFFER The first half of the tour we do naked eye observing of the sky, identifying constellations, bright stars and planets, learning star lore, and understanding a little bit about how the sky works. The second half of the tour we go to the telescopes (we usually set up three) to explore the best sights of the night. These vary from season to season depending on what is in the sky but might include planets like Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars, star clusters and far away galaxies, star clouds, and colorful double stars. We set up our "portable observatory" in the desert behind Mitzpe Ramon and provide chairs and blankets for everyone, and No, no walking is required. The planets and stars are too far away! We let our eyes do the walking. This means our tours are wheel chair, walker and elderly friendly. Share:
