Senior Backend Engineer
Unit · Tel Aviv-Yafo

ABOUT UNIT Money is fundamental to how people and businesses operate, but it often sits outside the software they use every day. Unit changes that. Unit is a financial infrastructure platform that enables technology companies to store, move, spend, and lend money inside their product. Unit processes over $100B in annual transaction volume, serves 2M+ accounts, and handles 11M+ API calls daily for category-defining companies including Wix, Highbeam, Wayflyer and Relay. Today, leading technology companies use Unit to create smarter money experiences, deepen customer relationships, and unlock new revenue. We’re building the infrastructure that will make financial products a native part of software, and we’re looking for people who want to help shape what comes next. We’ve raised $160m+ from top investors including Insight Partners and Accel, and 60+ angels. We are proud to be recognized on CNBC World's Top Fintech Companies. THE ROLE As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll be a key owner of the product and building the infrastructure behind it. You'll work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to shape features from idea to production, building the financial primitives that power businesses. This is a hands-on role for engineers who care deeply about what they build and why they build it. For the right candidate, it's a rare chance to leave a lasting mark on an industry-defining product. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Own features end-to-end: from product design and API contracts through implementation, testing, and deployment. • Collaborate directly with product and design to define requirements, push back when needed, and help make smart tradeoffs between speed, quality, and scope. • Build reliable, well-crafted backend services that power Unit's Banking, Payments, and Cards products. • Write APIs and backend logic that developers love to use: with a focus on clarity, correctness, and a great developer experience. • Contribute to architectural decisions and help raise the engineering bar across the team. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR • 5+ years of backend development experience, ideally in a product-driven environment where you've owned features • A product mindset: you ask "why are we building this?" and you care about the customer experience, not just the technical implementation. • Comfort working across the full backend lifecycle: design, implementation, testing, deployment, and on-call ownership. • Experience building and maintaining reliable systems in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure). • Solid understanding of distributed systems concepts: consistency, availability, failure modes, and observability. • Experience with CI/CD and modern deployment practices. • Fintech, payments, or developer-platform experience is a strong plus. • Production experience with Kubernetes — advantage. • Experience with Scala, ZIO, Cats, or functional programming — advantage. • Familiarity with DDD, Event Sourcing, or CQRS — advantage. #LI-Hybrid LIFE AT UNIT Working at Unit means helping shape the future of financial technology. We’re a global team that thinks big, moves with purpose, and takes ownership of the work we do. We care deeply about building great products, solving hard problems, and helping our customers succeed. We value people who are curious, collaborative, and ready to make an impact. At Unit, you’ll have the opportunity to do meaningful work, learn alongside talented teammates, and help build what’s next.

Staff Backend Engineer- Agent Experience (AX)
Cloudinary · Israel

Cloudinary is the media experience platform trusted by millions of developers and thousands of companies — from fast-growing startups to the world's largest brands — to power the images and video behind their digital experiences. Something fundamental is changing about who uses that platform. Increasingly, the "developer" calling our APIs isn't a person — it's an agent: an LLM, a coding assistant, an autonomous pipeline acting on a human's behalf. Our Agent Experience (AX) R&D team exists to make Cloudinary the default media layer those agents run on. Our guiding principle is simple: make agentic workflows work flawlessly with no friction. We're a small, fast, high-ownership team, and we're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to make Cloudinary work for agents — both by building new agent-facing infrastructure and by reshaping our existing platform for a world where the caller is a machine. Some of this is greenfield. Much of it is taking APIs, auth, and SDKs and making them ergonomic, legible, and reliable for agents. It’s a problem the whole industry is still figuring out. You’ll help define what great API design looks like when the caller is not a human developer, but an agent acting on their behalf. What you'll do • Build the surfaces agents call directly: API-first account provisioning, machine-to-machine authentication, scoped credentials, and agent-level identity and attribution. • Own our MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers and an agent-first CLI — let coding agents and LLMs discover and invoke Cloudinary reliably, engineered for agentic callers: token-efficient tool schemas, machine-parseable output, and loud, actionable failures instead of silent ones. • Harden the agent media path — make upload and core media operations reliable for non-human callers, eliminating the ambiguity and silent-failure modes that cause agents to drop off mid-task. • Make agent behavior measurable — partner on the instrumentation, signals, and attribution that tell us whether agents are succeeding. • Work across a polyglot backend — Node.js/TypeScript for the agent tooling layer, with Ruby/Rails and Go in the core platform. • Ship, measure, iterate — prototype quickly, dogfood the experience, and represent the agent's perspective in every design decision. Work closely with Product, Ecosystem, and Discoverability across the AX team. About you • 10+ years building and operating production APIs, SDKs and Backend systems and at scale. • Strong in Node.js/TypeScript, and comfortable working in (or quickly ramping on) Ruby/Rails and/or Go. • Deep API and protocol design fundamentals — authentication (OAuth, API keys, scoped permissions), versioning, idempotency, rate limiting, clean contracts. • Genuine curiosity about agents and LLMs and how they're reshaping how software gets built and run. • Solid distributed-systems and cloud instincts (AWS or equivalent). • A bias for ownership in ambiguity — you scope the problem, not just the solution, and you ship. • Strong written communication — it matters more than usual when your consumers are machines and your teammates are distributed. Advantages • Hands-on experience with MCP, LLM tool/function-calling, or building AI-/agent-native products. • Experience building SDKs, CLIs, or developer tools that other engineers depend on. • Background in media, imaging, or video processing/delivery. • Open-source contributions in the agent or developer-tooling ecosystem. Cloudinary is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. #LI-SL1

Staff Backend Engineer - Moderation
Cloudinary · Israel

Who We Are Our team is building a new product within Cloudinary, focused on large scale visual moderation. It is a fast moving, high impact effort that is already attracting interest from major customers. We operate like a small startup inside Cloudinary, which means: • Full independence in technical and product decisions • Freedom to build things the way we want • The backing and stability of a well established, successful company • Strong people first culture with genuinely great teammates We own the full development lifecycle, from deciding what to build to how we build, ship, and operate it. The team is very small, highly focused, and fully hands on. Why This Role Is Different You will work on a backend system where scale, cost, and correctness all matter at the same time. You will have real architectural ownership, direct customer impact, and the freedom to move fast without heavy process. Few roles offer this combination inside a mature company. What You Will Do Own the Server Side Design, build, and evolve the server side of a moderation platform operating at scale, including: • High throughput async pipelines • Large volumes of images and videos • Multi tenant systems • Cost sensitive ML workloads • Agentic moderation workflows and AI-driven decision systems Ship Fast, Ship Smart Deliver value iteratively with a clear focus on customer and business impact. Move quickly without losing sight of long term architecture and operational quality. Set the Technical Foundation Make architectural decisions that scale over time. Use agentic development and code generation to accelerate delivery, while keeping engineering judgment, technical accountability, and code ownership firmly in human hands. Elevate Quality and Standards Build clean, modular, secure backend systems that are meant to live and evolve. Establish good engineering practices around testing, observability, reliability, and maintainability. Drive Innovation and Practicality Explore new ideas and approaches, but always ground them in real world constraints like latency, cost, and operational complexity. Who We Are Looking For Experienced Backend Engineer 10+ years backend experience owning and delivering production systems. Strong hands on coding skills and confidence working deep in the backend stack. Languages and frameworks do not slow you down. We use Python. Cloud Native Strong experience building and operating cloud based systems, preferably on AWS. Hands on experience with distributed systems, async processing, queues, workflows, and production monitoring. Independent, Collaborative, and Comfortable with Ambiguity You thrive in low-process environments and communicate clearly and take ownership of outcomes, not just implementation. You can step into new domains, work through messy problems, and make fast progress while collaborating effectively with engineers, PMs, and stakeholders across the company. A Great Teammate You value clear communication, trust, humor, and helping build a strong and supportive team culture. #LI-SL1
