See who you know at Scala BiodesignDevelop cutting-edge AI methods to design and optimize antibodies, advancing therapeutic programs and Scala's protein design platform. Scala Biodesign is a biotech startup pioneering computational protein design platforms that power the next generation of biologics and industrial enzymes. Built on over a decade of research at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Scala's technology is trusted by ten of the world's top twenty pharmaceutical companies and by global leaders in chemical production. Our platform has been used to design antibodies, complex drug targets, and enzymes, including a malaria vaccine candidate currently in Phase II clinical trials. Our platforms fuse physics-based modeling, AI, and evolutionary data and have been shown in numerous cases to optimize key properties such as potency, manufacturability, and stability under industrially relevant conditions, delivering major performance gains in a single design round and significantly reducing experimental costs. We are looking for an Applied AI Researcher to join our multidisciplinary Antibody team composed of computational biologists, mathematicians and protein designers. In this role, you will drive the development and application of advanced machine learning methods to design and optimize antibodies, contributing directly to cutting-edge therapeutic programs and to the evolution of Scala's computational platform. Responsibilities: - Develop and apply cutting-edge AI/ML methods for antibody design, including generative modeling and protein language models - Design and implement algorithms for multi-objective optimization of antibodies (e.g., affinity, specificity, stability, developability) - Build tools to support iterative design cycles, combining computational predictions with experimental feedback - Collaborate closely with experimental and computational teams to translate models into impactful design outcomes - Stay current with advances in machine learning, structural biology, and AI-driven protein design Requirements: - Ph.D. in Computer science, Physics, Mathematics, computational biology or related field with 2+ years of industry experience, or an M.Sc. with 5+ years of relevant industry experience. - Strong proficiency in Python and PyTorch, with hands-on experience training and fine-tuning deep learning models on GPUs. - Strong algorithmic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate theoretical ideas into practical solutions. - Strong communication and collaboration skills. - Fast learner and proven ability to master new domains. - Advantage: Proven experience developing and applying machine learning models to biological or chemical data. Experience with antibody modeling and design (sequence, structure, or interaction prediction). - Advantage: experience profiling and optimizing GPU workloads.
Build and execute Scala's marketing function, turning breakthrough technology into commercial momentum. About Scala Scala Biodesign is developing ScalaOS, a next-generation protein design software platform that is transforming how scientists engineer proteins. Scala works primarily with the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, supporting protein design challenges across drug discovery, therapeutics, antibodies, enzymes, and other protein-based applications. Our customers range from leading global pharmaceutical companies, including top-20 pharma enterprises, to small and mid-sized biotech companies. ScalaOS brings together AI, physics-based modeling, evolutionary data, and structural bioinformatics in one intuitive environment, enabling R&D teams to design stable, high-performing proteins and address complex multi-property optimization challenges. Originating from research at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Scala helps pharmaceutical and biotech R&D teams accelerate the development of better protein-based products. Founded in 2022 and backed by top-tier venture capital investors, Scala is growing rapidly and building a team to bring its platform to scientists everywhere. About the Role We are looking for a hands-on Marketing Lead to build Scala's marketing foundations from the ground up. This is a rare opportunity for a B2B marketer to take ownership of how a cutting-edge computational biology software company communicates its product, creates demand and supports commercial growth. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will turn complex science and technology into clear market-facing assets, increase awareness of Scala among relevant biotech, pharma and industrial audiences and create the marketing infrastructure needed to support lead generation, sales, partnerships and events. Key Responsibilities Own Scala's core messaging and content direction, translating complex science and product value into clear, compelling communication for biotech, pharma and life-science audiences. Create high-quality marketing and commercial assets, including website content, one-pagers, presentations, case-study content, webinar materials, event assets and outreach-support materials. Develop targeted campaigns that generate and nurture qualified leads, supporting Sales, Business Development and SDR efforts in opening and advancing commercial conversations. Manage Scala's digital presence and content distribution across the website, social channels, SEO/AIO, and other relevant visibility channels. Manage external marketing vendors to support marketing execution. Build simple marketing workflows and use data, feedback, and AI tools to improve content, campaigns and execution over time. Qualifications 5+ years of B2B marketing experience in deep tech, software, scientific or other technology-driven industries. Exceptional English writing and communication skills, with a strong ability to create clear, compelling messaging for complex or technical products. Experience supporting sales, business development, outbound, lead nurturing, webinars, events or ABM initiatives through marketing content and campaigns. Highly proficient in using AI and software tools to improve content creation, workflows, campaign execution and productivity. Highly organized, proactive and comfortable building structure in a fast-moving startup environment with limited existing marketing infrastructure. Professional or academic background in life sciences or other science disciplines (physics, chemistry).
