You will own the strategy, delivery, and operations across three functions: IT, Information Systems engineering, and AI Enablement. You will lead managers and specialists, set the technology roadmap for our internal systems and business applications, and drive automation and AI adoption across the company. This is a senior, high-ownership leadership role for someone who can operate at both the strategic and hands-on level - balancing reliability and security with the speed and experimentation a growing SaaS company needs. TEAMS YOU'LL LEAD • IT - led by an IT Manager, responsible for global IT operations, endpoint and device management, onboarding/offboarding, core SaaS platforms, and vendor management. • Information Systems Engineering - a team of systems engineers owning business applications, integrations, data flows, and the internal systems that run Sales, Finance, HR, and other functions. • AI Enablement - a team driving adoption of AI tools and building internal automations and copilots that make every department more productive. WHAT YOU'LL DO • Own the MIS strategy & roadmap - define and execute the vision for IT, information systems, and AI enablement, aligned to company growth and business priorities. • Lead and grow the organization - manage the IT Manager, Information Systems engineers, and the AI Enablement team; hire, mentor, set goals, and build a high-performing, service-oriented culture. • Own business systems & applications - govern the architecture, integration, and lifecycle of core business systems (e.g., CRM, ERP, HRIS, Finance) and the data flows between them. • Drive AI & automation adoption - identify high-impact opportunities to apply AI and automation across the company, and lead the AI Enablement team in delivering tools, copilots, and workflows that raise productivity. • Ensure reliable, secure IT operations - oversee global IT delivery, endpoint and identity management, and employee support through the IT function, partnering closely with Security. • Governance, security & compliance - establish policies, access controls, and controls for systems and data; support audit and compliance requirements (e.g., SOC 2, GDPR). • Budget & vendor management - own the MIS budget, technology spend, and strategic vendor, consultant, and outsourcing relationships across all three functions. • Data & reporting - ensure the business has trustworthy systems data and reporting to support decision-making across departments. • Cross-functional partnership - act as the systems partner to Sales, Finance, HR, R&D, and other leaders; translate business needs into scalable systems solutions. About the Role We are seeking a Product Operations Lead to play a key role in product launches, planning processes, AI adoption and operational efficiency. This role will ensure product availability, process optimization, and KPI tracking, working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Customer Success teams. The ideal candidate will drive seamless product delivery, scale best practices, and enhance the product management lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Product Launch & Go-to-Market Readiness • Drive cross-functional product launch planning, ensuring clear responsibilities and execution timelines. • Develop together with Product Marketing scalable launch playbooks to standardize and optimize the GTM process. • Track and measure launch success through key metrics such as adoption, usage, and retention. • Ensure internal teams are enabled with product documentation, updates, release notes and other enablement principles • Partner with Customer Success to optimize post-launch support and user experience. • Monitor product readiness and ensure alignment between Product, R&D, Support and GTM teams. AI & Builder Approach • Work AI-first - use Claude and the connected stack (JIRA, Confluence, Vitally, Gong, Slack) as the default method for drafting, analysis, and synthesis, not an occasional shortcut. • Build the tooling you need. Ship lightweight internal tools - scripts, agents, digests, dashboards - that remove recurring manual work in release and launch operations, without waiting for an engineering roadmap slot. • Contribute to Product Brain, our internal AI knowledge layer, and design operational workflows that pull context from connected systems rather than reassembling it by hand each cycle. • Own AI adoption within Product Operations - find the manual work a system should be doing, prototype the replacement, and prove it works before asking anyone to adopt it. • Apply judgment on where automation belongs. Know which decisions, escalations, and communications need a human, and keep those human. KPI Tracking & Operational Excellence • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure release and launch effectiveness. • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance speed and efficiency. • Leverage data insights to drive continuous optimization of product operations workflows. • Own and optimize tooling and dashboards to provide real-time visibility into product health. • Partner with R&D to streamline deployment workflows, product maintenance and incident response guidelines. Cloudinary is the media experience platform trusted by millions of developers and thousands of companies — from fast-growing startups to the world's largest brands — to power the images and video behind their digital experiences. Something fundamental is changing about who uses that platform. Increasingly, the "developer" calling our APIs isn't a person — it's an agent: an LLM, a coding assistant, an autonomous pipeline acting on a human's behalf. Our Agent Experience (AX) R&D team exists to make Cloudinary the default media layer those agents run on. Our guiding principle is simple: make agentic workflows work flawlessly with no friction. We're a small, fast, high-ownership team, and we're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to make Cloudinary work for agents — both by building new agent-facing infrastructure and by reshaping our existing platform for a world where the caller is a machine. Some of this is greenfield. Much of it is taking APIs, auth, and SDKs and making them ergonomic, legible, and reliable for agents. It’s a problem the whole industry is still figuring out. You’ll help define what great API design looks like when the caller is not a human developer, but an agent acting on their behalf. What you'll do • Build the surfaces agents call directly: API-first account provisioning, machine-to-machine authentication, scoped credentials, and agent-level identity and attribution. • Own our MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers and an agent-first CLI — let coding agents and LLMs discover and invoke Cloudinary reliably, engineered for agentic callers: token-efficient tool schemas, machine-parseable output, and loud, actionable failures instead of silent ones. • Harden the agent media path — make upload and core media operations reliable for non-human callers, eliminating the ambiguity and silent-failure modes that cause agents to drop off mid-task. • Make agent behavior measurable — partner on the instrumentation, signals, and attribution that tell us whether agents are succeeding. • Work across a polyglot backend — Node.js/TypeScript for the agent tooling layer, with Ruby/Rails and Go in the core platform. • Ship, measure, iterate — prototype quickly, dogfood the experience, and represent the agent's perspective in every design decision. Work closely with Product, Ecosystem, and Discoverability across the AX team. About you • 10+ years building and operating production APIs, SDKs and Backend systems and at scale. • Strong in Node.js/TypeScript, and comfortable working in (or quickly ramping on) Ruby/Rails and/or Go. • Deep API and protocol design fundamentals — authentication (OAuth, API keys, scoped permissions), versioning, idempotency, rate limiting, clean contracts. • Genuine curiosity about agents and LLMs and how they're reshaping how software gets built and run. • Solid distributed-systems and cloud instincts (AWS or equivalent). • A bias for ownership in ambiguity — you scope the problem, not just the solution, and you ship. • Strong written communication — it matters more than usual when your consumers are machines and your teammates are distributed. Advantages • Hands-on experience with MCP, LLM tool/function-calling, or building AI-/agent-native products. • Experience building SDKs, CLIs, or developer tools that other engineers depend on. • Background in media, imaging, or video processing/delivery. • Open-source contributions in the agent or developer-tooling ecosystem. Cloudinary is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. #LI-SL1
